Seventy-eight candidates from across Canada and abroad completed the 7th serial of the Senior Leadership Program (SLP). This professional military education was delivered at the Chief Warrant Officer Robert Osside Profession of Arms Institute located at historic Fort Saint-Jean site from January 8 to February 1, 2018.

The aim of the SLP is to prepare selected non-commissioned members of the Canadian Armed Forces for organizational leadership appointments in a contemporary operating environment across the continuum of operations in national and international settings.

Subjects covered include military operations planning, leadership in the profession of arms, and communication skills.

"This course will empower our Chief Warrant Officers and Chief Petty Officers 1st class with different thinking processes, an amalgam of knowledge and necessary tools to solve complex problems that they will encounter in their future endeavors as leaders of the profession of arms”, said Chief Petty Officer Second Class Jocelyn Ramsay, Directing Staff and the Institute’s Public Affairs representative.

A center of excellence in leadership, the Osside Institute was integrated with the Royal Military College Saint-Jean in 2014 to provide four professional development programmes to senior non-commissioned members who are called upon to take institutional responsibility.

These first-rate programmes allow them to develop their knowledge and leadership at key moments in their career.

"We congratulate the students on the completion of their course, and wish them the best of success in their upcoming assignment as Chief Warrant Officer/Chief Petty Officer 1st class," said Rear-Admiral Luc Cassivi, Commander Canadian Defence Academy, at the graduation ceremony.
